Bird bath for a balcony, Bird feeder stool2023
@ Abstract Thoughts Gallery, Sydney/Eora
A set of DIY assemblages made for ‘Cool Change (during a heatwave),’ a group show curated by Floorplan Studio, to appropriate your home to respond to climate resilience and multi-species care. Constructed of a few elements easily acquired or found as household waste—a right-angle bracket, salvaged timbers, a hook or clamp to fit over your handrail, a shallow vessel.
All elements are bolted or tied together and hung over a balcony handrail, ideally positioned in front of an openable window that brings a breeze into your home. This assemblage can be easily configured to fit to most balcony constructions, or even a window sill, and is scalable based on available components.
Wooden slats are fixed to plywood to allow for crevices to be filled with bird seed. When not in use, the bird feeder it can be enjoyed as a stool.
